What is the recovery time after having ovary removed?
Posted under ovaryI have a 20cm dermoid cyst attached to my left ovary i am waiting on an appointment to go into hospital to have the cyst and ovary removed.I work with young children and need to be fit to look after them .So any ideas of how long it will take me to be fit enough for work. The doctor says 4 weeks but most people i have spoken to say it will be much longer.
I would be grateful to hear others experiences.
It depends on how it is done. Vaginally yes, 4 weeks. Abdominaly 6-8 for heavy lifting.

Had hysterectomey.
I had the same thing done. However, I had a complication and it took much much much longer.
You need to depend on the advice of your doctor, not "most people".
Your doctor is the one who knows. He / She has been doing this surgery and watching patients recover for a long time.
Although recovery time in patients can vary, the estimate they gave you is about right for the normal surgery without complications (this is what I was told when I had mine done).
If you need more time to recover than what he / she says, your body will let you know.
It always does.
Peace.

I would believe the doctor before the people on this website.
